The Boston Red Sox have selected Tampa Catholic’s Shane Rowland in the MLB draft, using a 36th round pick (1,103rd overall) on the Crusaders’ catcher.
Rowland helped lead Tampa Catholic to the Class 3A state tournament in his final prep season. He hit .373 with seven doubles, two home runs and 20 RBIs this season.
Rowland was an FACA All-Star this season and also played in the Aflac All-American Game last summer. He has signed to play collegiate baseball at Miami.
