USF returned to the practice field Sunday night for the first time since Thursday, and senior WR Dontavia Bogan was in the exact same spot as before, standing on the sidelines wearing a boot to protect his injured right ankle.
Bogan, who hasn’t practiced since injuring the ankle during USF’s loss to Florida, remains a question mark for Saturday’s game against Western Kentucky. Bulls coach Skip Holtz said he hoped to have a better idea on what Bogan’s availability will be when USF returns to the practice field Tuesday.
“We’ve put him in that boot to make sure that we can try and get as speedy a recovery as we can. We just don’t know exactly where that is and we’re not trying to test the waters to see if we can have him ready tonight,” Holtz said. “We still have to get some swelling out of there.”
Everyone else who missed some practice time during the bye week was back on the field Sunday, and Holtz was impressed with the collective effort displayed.
“I was really pleased with the attitude and way they came out here tonight. It’s nice to be back into game week,” Holtz said. “I tried to give them a couple of days away from here to kind of mentally and physically recoup from everything, and I felt they were really focused and dialed in tonight with what we had to do.”
