Bloomingdale boys soccer won a tough 3-2 district semifinal match against Alonso Wednesday night, earning a region playoff berth and a shot at a district title as the team will face No. 1 seed Wharton Friday. However, the Bulls’ offense will have to go the rest of the way this season – as it did Wednesday night – without standout forward Dalian Leigh.
Leigh watched the Bulls play Alonso from the bench after suffering a season-ending broken left ankle in Monday’s quarterfinal win against Plant.
Leigh, who scored seven goals in his last four matches, had a hat trick in the win Monday before getting tangled with Plant’s keeper late in the second half and breaking his ankle on a clean tackle Bloomingdale coach Troy Smith said.
Leigh, a senior, finishes the year with 20 goals.
