Monday was a big day for USF midfielder Bernardo Anor.
The Bulls junior picked up a few big honors for his performance at the Embassy Suites Kickoff Classic in Fort Myers, where he helped the Bulls men’s soccer team hand previously unbeaten squads Ohio State, ranked ninth nationally, and Drexel their first losses of the season.
Anor, who scored the game-winning goals in each of the wins and tallied five total points in the two games, was named MVP of the tournament, earned the weekly Big East Conference Offensive Player of the Week award and was named to both the College Soccer News and TopDrawerSoccer.com national teams of the week.
Through six games, Anor ranks first on the team in scoring with seven points and is tied for the team-lead with three goals, all of which have come in USF’s last four games.
The Bulls (4-1-1), winners of four straight, return to the field Friday in their Big East Conference opener at Connecticut. The game will be nationally-televised on ESPNU.

Adam welcome to the beat. (Just in case you are wondering) I believe that the lack of posts may be due to the fact that there was a lot of damage done by the beat writer (Brett McMurphy I believe was his name) that in my opinion caused a lot of ill will from Bulls Fans towards the Tribune. It certainly did not help when he moved on to that online magazine and tried to rake USF over the coals. Maybe I am in the minority, but I know that I for one check the other local newspaper and its blog for USF content as a result of the incidents with that particular Tribune beat writer (and the fact that the other paper’s USF beat writer busts his rump on digging up relevant USF Sports information).

Keep up the good work. From what I can see you are providing some good information on USF Sports and hopefully will start to overcome the loss of Goodwill that the aforementioned beat writer caused. Maybe the Tribune can think up of some ways to repair the damage that was caused and help out in the reviving of this blog.

USFJoFre,
Thanks for stopping by. I’ll continue to provide as much information as I can on USF athletics (still just getting my feet wet), so be sure to come back.
