In an attempt to share knowledge with area youth and high school football coaches, Big County Preps of Tampa is offering a clinic Saturday at Predator Field, 3032 Collier Parkway in Land O’ Lakes.
The clinic runs from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and is $35 per coach. It will feature several of the area’s top coaches, as well as NFL veterans and local products J.R. Reed and Keith Newman.
According to BCP founder Preston Jackson, himself a former defensive back for Notre Dame, the intent of the clinic is to provide coaches with the knowledge and skills to teach fundamentals and proper technique at every position. Coaches will learn how to organize practice, establish the best drills for individual, group and team periods and develop a better scheme for offense and defense
Among the clinic coaches scheduled to be on hand are USF’s Steve Bird, Alan Williams of Central Florida, Armwood defensive coordinator Matt Thompson, quarterbacks coach Chip Bennett, running backs coach Dennis Rosario of Strawberry Crest, receivers coach Jayson Roberts of Tampa Bay Tech, and offensive line coach Chuck McCloud.
