Berkeley Prep senior cross country and track standout Gigi Price has made a commitment to C.W. Post in Long Island, N.Y., her mother, Ann Price, confirmed Tuesday. Gigi will sign a letter of intent Wednesday afternoon during a ceremony at Berkeley for Buccaneers’ athletes headed to college on athletic scholarships.

Joining Price for that National Signing Day ceremony will be another Berkeley track star, senior decathlete Auston Chen, who made a verbal commitment to Division-I power Arkansas last fall.
Price was the Buccaneers’ No. 1 runner in cross coutnry last season, finishing second in the Class 2A-District 5 meet and leading her squad to a berth in the state championships.
In track last spring, Price was part of a Bucs foursome that was the district runner-up in the 4x800-meter relay and ninth in the Class 2A state finals. In 2008, Price was a medalist in the event when she teamed up with her older sister, Page, to finish eighth in the state meet. Page is now a sophomore running for the University of Miami, where last season she qualified for the USA Track and Field Junior Nationals in the 800.
C.W. Post is a Division-II school that competes in the East Cost Conference. Last season, the Pioneers won the ECC men’s championship and the women’s squad took third. Both squads went on to compete in the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional in Boston, where the men were 10th out of 26 schools and the women 16th out of 25.
