Berkeley Prep senior guard Zak Kazanski has decided to play for Division III RPI, an engineering school in upstate New York, coach Bobby Reinhart said on Thursday.
Kazanski, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard, averaged 12.5 points and 3.7 assists per game for the Buccaneers, who were at one point ranked No. 1 in the Class 3A state poll. He was also named to the Tribune’s All-Hillsborough County second-team and was a Class 3A all-state honorable mention.
He finished his career with 1,135 points.
“Like most Berkeley athletes, Zak has chosen to place his academics first,” Reinhart said. “Zak wants to be an engineer, and RPI is one of the top engineering schools in the country. It’s a great fit. RPI is getting a basketball player who is solid in all areas and is tough as nails.”
