Chamberlain rising junior shortstop Bianka Bell was not one of the 17 players selected to the 2010-2011 ASA/USA Women’s Junior National Softball Team, but will be a reserve and could make the team if a spot becomes available, her father Joe Bell said.
Bell was one of 42 players in the country invited to attend a player pool camp in California this past weekend. To be eligible for consideration, players needed to be born after December 31,1991.
“It was a tough class,” Joe Bell said.
The team will compete in the Pan Am Jr. Women’s World Championship Qualifier August 2-16 in Bogota, Columbia and the ISF Jr. Women’s World Championship in December of 2011 in Cape Town, South Africa.
“She was one of the youngest there,” Bell said. “Bianka had a pretty good tryout.”
