NEW PORT RICHEY—River Ridge senior pitcher Tommy Peterson has verbally committed to the University of South Florida, according to Royal Knights’ Coach and Athletic Director Jack Homko.
Peterson, a 6-foot righthander, had a 2.18 ERA and 78 strikeouts against just 12 walks in 67 1/3 innings for the Royal Knights during his junior season.
Baseball players are not allowed to sign letters of intent at this time, but Peterson’s committment essentially ends the recruiting process and allows him to focus on baseball for the remainder of his prep career.
