Middleton assistant coach Kenny Norman has been added to the St. Pete College baseball staff.
Norman, who has served as a Middleton assistant for the past four seasons, started Team Xtreme, a travel baseball team in Tampa, in 2007.
In this new capacity, Norman, a 1989 sixth round pick of the Minnesota Twins, will be responsible for recruiting as well as developing hitters, base runners and outfielders.
“Coach Norman is a tremendous addition to our staff,” SPC head coach Rob Francis said in a press release. “His teaching ability is second to none, and he has a passion for developing student-athletes into outstanding people both on and off the field. We are excited to add his family to ours here at SPC.”
Norman is currently coaching the Tampa Rays RBI Senior Boys baseball team, sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club, which won the Southeast Regional Tournament in Vero Beach and has qualified for the 19th Annual Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) World Series, a Major League Baseball program. The series will be played in Minnesota Aug. 11-14.
