Lance McCullers isn’t the only player representing Jesuit this week in San Diego. While McCullers will play in the 2011 Perfect Game All-American Classic, Chacon, a junior, will play in the 2011 PG National Games.

Just as McCullers is joined by King’s Keon Barnum in the All-American Classic, which will take place Sunday, Chacon is joined by Gaither junior Oscar Mercado. Both will play on the East squad.

Chacon, an infielder and pitcher, hit .292 this past season as a sophomore for the Tigers with 19 runs scored, five doubles, seven RBIs and a home run. On the mound he was 3-0 with a 0.78 ERA and 19 strike outs.

Meanwhile, Mercado, a shortstop, hit .338 with 23 RBIs, 21 runs scored, four doubles and three triples.

The East played its first game this morning, losing to the West, 4-3. Chacon and Mercado’s East team will play again Friday. Those game are taking place at the University of San Diego. The 2011 Perfect Game All-American Classic will be played inside San Diego’s PETCO Park.
