Former Gaither and current Santa Fe Community College outfielder Drew Doty has verbally committed to play baseball at the University of Tampa for the 2012-13 season, according to his father Rick Doty.
This season as a freshman at the Gainesville community college, Doty played in 49 games, racking up 74 hits, a .381 batting average and 46 RBIs – all team-leading numbers. He also collected 39 runs scored, 17 doubles and three triples. On defense, Doty recorded 105 put outs, three assists and seven errors.
During his junior season at Gaither, Doty hit .432 with six doubles, six triples, a county and program-best 10 home runs and 32 RBIs.
