University of South Florida baseball coach Lelo Prado has received a new contract that will keep him with the program through the 2014 season, it was announced Thursday.

Prado will make roughly $132,500 annually in the new three-year deal, with $99,679 in base pay and an additional $32,500 in supplemental compensation for radio, television and other appearances.

Both USF and Prado have the option of terminating the contract early. Should USF relieve Prado of his duties, they would owe him the $50,000 in base pay for each remaining year. If Prado opts out of the deal before June 30, 2012 he would owe USF $50,000, and $25,000 if he chooses to leave between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013.

Prado is 150-139 overall during a five-year tenure at USF, though the Bulls have finished with a losing record in each of the last two seasons. In 2011, USF finished 25-29 and did not qualify for Big East tournament for the first time in program history.

Prado was anticipating signing 11 recruits during the early signing period, which began Wednesday. The majority of them are from the Tampa area, including pitchers Jimmy Herget (Jefferson), Nathan Hahn (Alonso), Derek Martin (Tampa Catholic) and Dylan Drawdy (Riverview), and Jesuit teammates Joey Altieri and Vincent Leto.
