Rays SS Jason Bartlett was a late scratch with a bruised left foot and 3B Evan Longoria was moved over to short. Bartlett fouled a ball off his foot in batting practice.
Longoria has been taking ground balls at short during BP to get ready for a start or two there when Bartlett’s baby arrives in the coming days. The Rays lineup now looks like this (changes in bold):
Iwamura, 2B
Crawford, LF
Upton, CF
Hinske, 1B
Longoria, SS
Floyd, DH
Aybar, 3B
Navarro, C
Gross, RF
Shields, P

Why not put Barlett on the DL for a few days (obstensibly for his bruised foot -great excuse!) an bring up Zobrist to cover short?
