Barber Only Buc In Pro Bowl Top 5
Posted Nov 18, 2008 by Anwar S. Richardson

I just received the current Pro Bowl vote standings and cornerback Ronde Barber is the only Bucs player in contention to receive enough votes to play in Hawaii.
Fans were able to vote on NFL.com since Oct. 13, and after five weeks, Barber is currently in fifth place among NFC cornerbacks with 104,553 votes. Bucs players such as WR Antonio Bryant, C Jeff Faine, QB Jeff Garcia, LB Derrick Brooks or LB Barrett Ruud are not ranked in the top five.
There are three weeks of voting remaining and polls close on Dec. 9. Click here for more information NFL.com

there is obviously something wrong if the washington redskins led every single position in voting

It looks like teh redskins should be undefeated with all the probowlers it has.

How do the skins have so many players on top? Three of the top four at outside linebacker? I don’t get it. And how is McNabb even in the top five in qb’s

wtf.

This is sort of a farce. He’s been great,in past years, but Barber this season has been one of the worst performers on the defense.Ruud deserves serious contention, but MLB is a strong spot in the NFC at present.
Suggest removalInteresting that Ware, Peppers, & Allen have all been shut down by Donald Penn, but he gets no credit from anyone in other markets.

Interesting that on the most important play of the game he didnt do his job and DeMarcus Ware went by him and hit Jeff Garcia before he could hit the open reciever on the ILB. Also D Ware didnt get shut down, he threw Penn on his butt many times just no sacks. Sacks arent everything. Getting the German army to block you and pressure do stuff to bother offenses as well.

Last years pro bowl snubbed the Bucs and it looks like it will happen again. Cleveland didn’t make the playoffs and they added more players than I have fingers on one hand! I think that the Bucs are a lot like the Ol “Rodney Dangerfield”, what do you think can be done for the Bucs to be viewed in a more favorable light? My guess is the NFL will add a token player from the Bucs like they did last year. Barber falling down, getting burnt and doing the horse collar thing must be very popular!

It is because their fans don’t suck…I have voted quite a bit so far. If some of our fans would get into it we might have a chance to get some of our players into the top 5 and possibly make it.

Geez where’s the love for the NFC South? It seems like the NFC East is dominating every position. Gimme a break, at least give Matt Bryant and Barrett Ruud their due. Bryant has only missed, what, 3 field goals all year? Barrett Ruud is playing like the best middle linebacker in the NFL. This is ridiculous.

Are you kidding me? This has been Ronde’s weakest year by far as a Buccaneer. Rudd at least needs to be in there not to mention several others. Ridiculous!

How are Redskins, Cowboys, Giants and other “big market” fans going to know what an exceptional player Barret Ruud is when they don’t see him on TV? The majority of fans will simply vote for the players on their preferred teams, or on the teams that get an extraordinary amount of media attention.
The probowl is a joke. Fans and even the media should have nothing to do with it. It should be completely up to players and coaches. They’re the only people who genuinely know how good a player is.

Suggest removalBigd - I have also voted numerous times and will continue to do so right up until the polls close. I find it amazing that our defense isn’t represented in the Pro Bowl since they have had a stellar year. Washington must have some REALLY big fans, otherwise, how would one explain all the players getting the votes. They aren’t undefeated like the Titans (wait, where are the Titans when it comes to pro bowl votes???) Interesting!
VOTE BUCS FANS, VOTE!!!!

Doc I knew you would say that(along with Old School). Granted he hasn’t had a great year and has been burnt quite a few times, it comes down to name recognition. I don’t think Ronde is great…he was at one point…but he is still good. Bobbyd, you brought up a good point. Our fan base market is like 15th in the league or something like that. We do have one of the better defenses in the NFL and should have a few more players making the pro bowl this year. We also have a couple I can think of that should make it on offense too.
