Willy Aybar wasn’t finished dressing after Wednesday’s workout until he placed his left wrist in a plastic splint.
The Rays infielder/designated hitter reinjured the wrist he injured early last month while playing winter ball in the Dominican Republic.
Aybar said the wrist began to bother him Tuesday and was held out of Wednesday’s workouts - the first full squad workout of the spring for the Rays.
“(Tuesday) I started to feel something, so they asked me to take it easy for a while,” Aybar said.
Aybar said it doesn’t hurt as much as it did last month. He expects to be out a week.
“The doctors assured us that he’s fine,” Rays manager Joe Maddon said. “We just wanted to quiet it down a little bit.”
