BOSTON - Willy Aybar has joined the home run parade, ripping a two-run rocket into the parking lot on the other side of the Green Monster in the top of the third. The Rays have chased Boston starter Tim Wakefield, and they lead in the bottom of the third.
Tampa native Kevin Cash, starting because knuckleballer Wakefield was pitching, got one run back for Boston with a solo home run in the bottom of the third.
Aybar’s home run - the third for the Rays in the game - came afer Carl Crawford reached on an infield single with two out. Justin Masterson replaced Wakefield after Dioner Navarro singled, and he struck out Fernando Perez on a called third strike.
