Surely Wharton senior quarterback Andrew Clifford grew tired of people asking him about his recruiting process. That’s because all summer long and throughout the season, no college program officially offered him a scholarship.
While talents across the county were piling up offers, Clifford was still standing in the “getting interest” line.
Not anymore. Coach David Mitchell said Liberty, a Division I-AA school, officially offered Clifford last week.
“They took a long time,” Mitchell said. “They kept asking for more film.”
Clifford (6-3, 210 lbs.) has passed for 1,601 yards and 15 touchdowns along with six interceptions. He also has nine rushing touchdowns.
UAB and Nebraska have shown interest.
The Wildcats face Chamberlain in the Class 5A region semifinals on Friday.

Clifford is a stud! His offers will come. I’ve seen #9 play since he was 12. Good things come to those who wait. His time will come.
