Sorry for not posting the AP, coaches and BCS polls on Sunday, but with the Thursday night game, I got a rare weekend off. I’m sure you’ve all seen the polls by now, but if not here they are.
Also, USF dropped to No. 39 in the unofficial (beyond the Top 25) BCS standings, compiled by CollegeBCS.com.
And, if you’re wondering who voted for USF in the AP Poll, it was Maurice Patton, of the Tennessean in Nashville. He had USF ranked No. 22 entering the Cincinnati game and only dropped the Bulls to No. 25 after the 24-10 loss. He should be getting his Lee Roy Selmon’s restaurant gift certificate in the mail from Fowler Avenue in the next few days.
I realize how difficult it is to fill out the ballot each week, but there does seem some obvious teams you should or shouldn’t rank. Bret Bloomquist of the El Paso Times (and I met Bloomquist at the Sun Bowl last year and he’s a very good guy), had Louisville 18th this week - after losing to Syracuse? Bloomquist actually moved the Cards up seven spots after their loss at Syracuse.

Terry, you may be on to something, who knows? Chris, I agree with you on the BCS. A playoff would be great, but it won’t happen anytime soon unfortunately.

This BCS system is impressive. I didn’t think it was possible to come up with a system that could give us another blow out of a Big Ten school in the “Championship Game”, a rematch of USC and Ohio State in the Rose Bowl, 2 undefeated conference champions snubbed from the “Championship Series” for lower ranked teams because they won their “BCS” conferences with 3 losses. I don’t think if I tried I could come up with a crappier “Bowl Championship Series”. Congrats college presidents, pat yourselves on the back and heck give yourselves a big fat raise next year because you earned it. Its not easy every year convincing the American people to live with this system for another year…wow…$$$$$

Brett… We really haven’t been dominated in one game, although we did lose the last one by 14. Maybe that is why the guy is still giving us some love… or he knew Fulmer was getting canned and wanted to give Leavitt some love thinking he might have a chance to goto Knoxville.

Sorry for the rant Brett but the possibility of a USC v Ohio State rematch pushed me over the edge. I really would have to question the sanity of fans that would spend the cash to make that trip twice in a year.
