Brandon shortstop Spencer Haynes has become the third Eagles senior to he selected in this year’s MLB draft.
The Oakland Athletics selected Haynes in the 43rd round (1,295th overall) on Wednesday.
In addition to flashing a good glive, Haynes hit .309 with six doubles, two home runs, 16 RBIs and 34 runs scored this season for the Eagles.
Haynes recently signed with UCF, a Division I program. He originally signed with State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota prior to the season.
Haynes teammates Roderick Shoulders (Boston; 20th round) and James Ramsay (New York Yankees; 38th round) were previously selected in this year’s draft.
