Armwood senior Demetrius Jackson signed a national letter-of-intent to play basketball for Labette Community College located in Kansas on Tuesday.
Before the season, Jackson, a 6-foot-5 forward, was considered one of the top players in Hillsborough County. He was being recruited by several Division I schools, such as North Florida, Jacksonville University and East Tennessee State, but before his season could begin, he was suspended for six weeks by the FHSAA for his role in an altercation with a Bloomingdale player in a preseason game. Jackson played in 11 games this past season before he left the team, during which time he averaged 8.9 points, 13.0 rebounds and 7.5 blocks per game.
