Success has its perks. And for Armwood head football coach Sean Callahan, who is guiding the Hawks into Friday’s Class 6A state semifinals, it has translated into a pair of prestigious invitations to help coach postseason all-star squads.
Callahan has accepted an invite to coach running backs for the East squad of the Semper Fidelis All American Bowl, Jan. 3 at Chase Field in Phoenix. And in 2013, Callahan has been invited to be an assistant on the staff of the Under Armour All-America Game in St. Petersburg.
Sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps, the Semper Fidelis game is in its first year. Like the Under Armour game and U.S. Army All-American Bowl, Semper Fidelis will feature standout senior players from around the nation. A roster of 100 players for the Semper Fidelis game are both nominated and selected based upon their national rankings. Seven players from Florida are on the East roster, including four-star recruit Donaldven Manning of Miami Central.
Callahan said the coaching staffs of both squads will be treated to several days stay in Phoenix and a long list of activities in the city. He has also been invited to coach in the 2013 Under Armour Game. Callahan has already coached in the Army bowl game.
