Armwood football coach Sean Callahan says his Class 6A state championship squad will host Class 3A state champs Delray Beach American Heritage in Week 2 of the regular season this fall at Lyle Flagg Field.
American Heritage won the 3A title after knocking of Berkeley Prep 17-9 in the sate semifinals and perennial power Madison County 30-3 in the finals. The Stallions finished 12-1, with its only loss coming to Belle Glades Glades Central in Week 2 of that season by a score of 41-34.
The game is slated for Sept. 7, the week after Armwood takes on local rival Brandon in the season opener.
Callahan said, however, he is in need of a kickoff classic game Aug. 24. Any school interested in playing the Hawks should contact Callahan at Armwood.
