The knock to the knee Armwood quarterback Darryl Richardson received in last week’s 35-0 victory over Sickles is not going to keep the junior standout out of Friday’s district game against Strawberry Crest, Hawks coach Sean Callahan said Monday.
Normally, a bump like that wouldn’t be a major concern. But the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Richardson received it to the same knee where he ruptured a bursa sac in Armwood’s season opening victory over Las Vegas Bishop Gorman. As a precaution, Richardson came out of the Sickles game once he sustained the hit and did not return.
Mondnay, however, Richardson appeared to be fine and Callahan said he will start against winless Strawberry Crest. Also hurt against Sickles was tightend K.J. Miles, who sprained an ankle. He, too, is likely to play Friday.
Meanwhile, Armwood holds the No. 2 spot in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 national poll (behind Don Bosco Prep of New Jersey) and is No. 8 in the Freeman Computer Rankings.
