The Armwood Invitational cross country meet has been officially sanctioned by the Florida High School Athletics Association and will be staged Oct. 12 at the University of South Florida golf course, aka “The Claw,” Hawks coach Pete Mirones announced today.
Action on the all-grass 5-kilometer course will begin at 4 p.m. with a junior varsity girls race, followed by JV boys at 4:30. Varsity girls will run at 5 p.m., varsity boys are set for 5:35 and an awards ceremony will follow at 6.
Cost per varsity team is $45 and $15 per varsity individual. Parking will be $2 at the golf course but no school buses will be allowed in this area, only team vans. The Armwood Invitational will be a chipped-time race so early entry is vital. Registration will be done by Elite Timing on line (http://elitetiming.net).
