Although New Jersey’s Don Bosco Prep had to come from behind in the fourth quarter to beat Manatee 22-16 last week, Armwood remains the nation’s No. 2 squad behind the Ironmen in two MaxPreps polls, the Xcellent 25 and the Freeman Rankings.
The Xcellent 25 is a poll conducted by MaxPreps writers while the Freeman Rankings are based on computer models.
While those two spots remained the same in this week’s poll, a new team has risen to the No. 3 position, Trinity of Louisville, Ky., which was previously ranked fifth. The Shamrocks moved up two spots after a 17-7 victory over the previous No. 16 squad, St. Xavier of Cincinnati.
Meanwhile, Armwood rose one spot in the USA Today Super 25 rankings to No. 4 and is No. 7 in the RivalsHigh 100. Don Bosco holds the top spot in the USA Today poll but fell to No. 5 in the Rivals rankings, supplanted by new No.1 Allen (Texas) High.
