It’s going to be at least another day before the results are known of an MRI scan performed on the knee of Armwood starting quarterback Darryl Richardson.
Hawks coach Sean Callahan said the MRI was performed early Tuesday afternoon but as is often the case with such procedures, doctors will need time to carefully review the results of the scan before a full diagnosis is revealed.
Richardson injured his right knee in the first series Friday night against host Las Vegas Bishop Gorman but was able to play the remainder of the game. The following day, however, the knee became badly swollen. Callahan said early examinations of the knee by doctors do not indicate there is ligament damage, but there is a chance of a fracture of the patella (knee cap) or tibia plateau (top of the shin bone).
In the meantime, receiver Alvin Bailey is taking snaps at quarterback and will be the starter there Friday when the nationally-ranked Hawks travel a few miles south of Seffner to face the Brandon Eagles.
