Some of the Bay Area’s top senior basketball players participated in this past weekend’s Florida Athletic Coaches Association North vs. South Senior Boys & Girls All-Star Basketball Classic in Daytona Beach. With their help, the South All-Star teams dominated the event.
The South boys won, 115-103, led by Braden River’s Casey Bobelis, who scored a game-high 19 points. Tampa Prep senior forward Jay Bowie, who this month led the Terrapins to the 2A state championship game, added 10 points while Sickles senior point guard Jordan Davis, who led his Gryphons to the 5A title game, finished with 10 points and six assists.
Winter Springs forward Luis Jacobo led the North team with 19 points.
In the girls game, St. Pete Catholic guard Jeric Coley scored 17 points in a 101-93 South All-Stars victory. Tampa Catholic senior guard Colette Eule, the leading scorer on TC’s 3A state championship team, added 10 points while Plant senior guard Michelle Taylor finished with four points. South Broward High’s Krystal Saunders led all scorers with 20 points.
Veronica Ryan of West Port High led the North girls with 18 points.
