ST. PETERSBURG The Rays promoted right-hander Chris Archer to Triple A Durham late Tuesday night.
Archer, acquired in the offseason trade that sent Matt Garza to the Cubs, was 8-7 with a 4.42 ERA in 25 starts for Double A Montgomery.
In 134 1/3 innings, he allowed 136 hits, struck out 118 and walked 80.
Archer is the second of the Rays top pitching prospects to make the move from Double A to Triple A this summer.
Lefty Matt Moore was promoted on July 19.
In six starts with the Bulls, Moore is 3-0 with a 1.04 ERA. He has 57 strikeouts in 34 2/3 innings and WHIP (walks/hits per innings pitched) of 0.78.
