There is a new twist in the wrongful termination lawsuit filed by former football coach Jim Leavitt against USF.
Leavitt’s attorney, Wil Florin, filed a motion in Hillsborough County Circuit Court on Tuesday morning that stated Leavitt had conversations with athletic director Doug Woolard regarding current men’s basketball player Gus Gilchrist, and a package deal that was made to land Gilchrist by giving a job to Terrelle Woody, a Gilchrist associate who spent two seasons on coach Stan Heath’s staff.
The motion, which claims USF’s responses to a Request for Admissions filing was insufficient, also states that NCAA investigators looking into Woody’s hiring were never made aware of the conversations, and that “Woolard had a pre-determined mindset to terminate Coach Leavitt from his employment in December 2009 in order that Leavitt be publically (sic) discredited in the event Leavitt was questioned regarding his knowledge of the basketball recruiting issue and thereby protect Woolard’s reputation and job security at USF and any future employment.”

Adam, where do you come down on the Leavitt-Miller-firing saga? Do you think he did it?

Dan,
I don’t have a stance on the Leavitt situation. I have followed the situation the best I could from afar (haven’t been involved in the situation until now) and find it intriguing/interesting, as I’m sure everyone else does.
