Andre Berto recognizes World Water Day

In recognition of World Water Day, WBC welterweight champion and Winter Haven native Andre Berto helped the cause through his Berto Dynasty Foundation.

Berto Dynasty made a charitable contribution to Gebnerosity Water, an organization created in 2008 that has funded more than 200 water projects in 17 countries, giving clean water to over 80,000 people.

The money provided by Generosity Water and the Berto Dynasty Foundation will build enough wells in Haiti to provide clean water for more than 400 people for life.

World Water Day was first observed in 1992 following the Unbited Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro. The day is recognized annually on March 22.

Presentation of the check took place last Friday during the third annual Night of Generosity hosted by E! News’ Giuliana Ransic and Jason Kennedy in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Because Berto is training in Winter Haven for his April 16 bout against Victor Ortiz, a video message from Berto was played at the event.
