Bucs fans have spoken - or actually written.
As of 3:15 p.m., 1,706 have signed an online petition, on the website givemiketheball.com, urging Coach Jon Gruden to involve fullback Mike Alstott more heavily in the offense.
The site, which came to life on Dec. 11, encourages fans to chant “Give Mike The Ball” at the Bucs final regular season game on Dec. 31 against Seattle, a game that will likely be Alstott’s final appearance. If by halftime Alstott is not getting the ball, fans are urged to start chanting “Fire Jon Gruden.”
Gruden said this week he’d like to get all of his backs, Cadillac Williams and Michael Pittman included, more involved in the offense. There’s a faction of Bucs fans, however, that would prefer Alstott get the bulk of the carries.
There’s at least 1,706 of them.

I have just added my name to this petition site. It’s up past 1800 now. I’d like to urge all of Mike’s fans to get in on this right now and make your voice heard. This may be the last thing that we as fans can do for Mike. After all he’s done for us and the Tampa Bay community, it’s the least we can do for him.

YES, Mike should get ALL THE CARRIES. He would fare much better then Cadillac Williams. BUT, it’s not because he’s even in Caddy’s class as a runner. It’s because if 40 is toating the rock 40 is not the lead blocker. That Atlanta game was the worst display of effort and effect I’ve have ever witnessed from a lead blocker. While blocking, not once in the entire game could 40 get 2 yards past the line of scrimage. And, 4 of the first six runs the man Alstott was supposed to be blocking made the tackle or assisted, So of coarse our running game would be better with 40 at HB, but it is simply because an actual NFL borderline starter (#33) would be at fullback.
