Alonso wrestler Tony Milanes not only helped the Ravens win the Western Conference American Division Championships over the weekend, but he also became the program’s all-time leader in career wins in the process.
Milanes, a senior, tied the previous record of 124 wins held by Josh Moore with his first win, and ran his career total to 131 at the event after going 8-0 wrestling at 125 pounds.
Milanes, who is 25-2 on the season, entered this season intent on making a run at several Ravens records, and Alonso coach John Moore said he’s on the verge of breaking another. With 174 takedowns thus far, Moore believes it’s only a matter of time before Milanes hits the single-season mark of 215.
“Tony is a very determined guy,” Moore said. “When he says those things (about breaking records), I know he means them.”
