Alonso shortstop Tito Martinez will start his collegiate career at a Division I program.
Martinez recently signed with Marshall University, according to his father, David. Martinez originally signed with Polk State College but asked for and was granted his release from that letter-of-intent, which paved the way for him to sign with the Thundering Herd.
Martinez was a four-year varsity starter, his last three at Alonso after transferring from Sickles, and hit .359 in his prep career. He helped the Ravens win the Class 6A state title in 2009 and make a second consecutive state tournament appearance in his final season. He also helped Alonso win two Saladino Tournament titles and was a member of the Saladino all-tournament team three times.
