Alonso’s C.J. Bennett picks South Alabama

The wild recruiting ride for C.J. Bennett is finally over.
Alonso’s quarterback and reigning Guy Toph Award winner committed to South Alabama on Friday.
Bennett, a Tribune All-Hillsborough County Football second-team selection, chose South Alabama over Wyoming and Murray State.
One of the top passers in the county the past two seasons, Bennett verbally committed to Wyoming last summer, but changed his mind midway through his senior season. He took another visit to Wyoming a couple of weeks ago and ruled them out again. He also took a visit to USF last weekend in hopes of getting a scholarship offer that never came.
