After leading his team to its victory against Durant last Friday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Alonso football coach Brian Emanuel as its High School Coach of the Week for Week 2.

The Ravens collected a dominating, 26-5 win against the Cougars, pouncing on four Durant fumbles. Two of those turnovers led to third quarter touchdowns by running back/receiver Brandon Holloway.

Holloway led Alonso in rushing that night with 106 yards and two touchdowns, while Eddie Castillo pitched in with one rushing and one receiving score.

“As far as the award for me, it’s all about the kids and I told them that (Wednesday),” Emanuel said. “This is more of an award showing what they’ve done than anything I’ve done. I can’t say enough about the kids. It’s an honor, but it’s definitely a team (award).”

Ironically, Emanuel’s father, Frank Emanuel, spent two seasons (1982 and 1983) as the Bucs’ special teams coach under John McKay before moving on the USFL. They’ve been season ticket holders since 1982.

Being selected as Coach of the Week earns Emanuel a tour of One Buccaneer Place as well as a $1,000 check for the Ravens football program. Throughout the high school football season, the Bucs will recognize 10 central Florida football coaches. At season’s end, a Coach of the year will be selected and he will receive an additional $1,000 for his football program.
