Alonso lost the services of starting quarterback Brandon Hawkins early on Thursday night during its 20-14 win against visiting Bloomingdale.
The junior hurt his right, throwing shoulder one play into the second quarter on a on a third-and-11 scramble. After avoiding a sack, Hawkins picked up 4-yards, but jammed the shoulder on the tackle.
“We’ll evaluate (Friday) and see how serious it is,” Alonso coach Brian Emanuel said. “He’s definitely our MVP because of the position he plays. So we kind of had to scramble today with some wildcat with (Brandon) Holloway – he did a great job, too. Our backup Ethan Winget threw a great touchdown pass. Did some good things without a lot of reps. So we’ll evaluate Hawkins in the morning and see where we go from there.”
Hawkins finished the injury-shortened night 6-of-6 passing for 68 yards. He also had eight yards rushing.
