Alonso pitcher Beckman signs with NC State

Alonso pitcher Cody Beckman committed to North Carolina State University at an early signing ceremony at the school Friday morning.
Beckman made 11 appearances for Alonso posting a 3-1 record and a 2.10 ERA.
The senior left hander said he had a successful summer ball season playing with the St. Louis Cardinals Scout team, competing in the Perfect Game USA World Wood Bat Association World Series and playing in the Florida Diamond Club Scout Invite tournament in Lakeland.
Beckman had offers from Texas Tech and Florida Atlantic, but said NC State felt like the right place when he met with the baseball coaches.
“A lot of the colleges I spoke with seemed like baseball is a business,” Beckman said. “But I could tell right away the (NC State) coaches were about the team and had a genuine concern about their players.”
