Academy of the Holy Names junior Kaleigh Dickson has accepted a scholarship offer to join the women’s gymnastics program at LSU.
Dickson had narrowed her choice to Pittsburgh or Auburn, but LSU took notice during while she was winning the Level 10 Senior A all-around title at the Region 8 Gymnastics Championships in Huntsville, Ala.
Dickson, who lives in Oldsmar, competes for LaFleur’s in Tampa. She took up gymnastics at age 6 and now practices about 3 ½ hours a day, six days a week during the school year. In the summer she commits six hours a day, five days a week to gymnastics.
LSU placed fourth in the SEC this season, won the NCAA Central Regional and placed fifth in the NCAA Championships.
Dickson’s all-around score of 37.975 at the Region 8 Championships qualified her for the National Championships on May 16-18 in Orlando.
