Academy at the Lakes athletic director Tom Haslam announced Thursday the school hired Stephanie Turner as its new varsity volleyball coach.
Turner is a former East Carolina University volleyball player (2006-09) and served as the team captain during the 2008-09 season. The Amherst, NY native was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team in 2008.
Her previous coaching duties include the East Carolina Junior Volleyball Club from 2006-08.
During her senior season, Turner led ECU with 256 kills, kills per set (2.59), digs (215) and serve receive percentage (.986). In 30 starts as a junior, Turner led the Pirates in kills (241), kills per set (2.13), points (296.5) and service aces (28). She finished second in digs (218).
