For the second time in a three-day span, the Academy at the Lakes football team has tasted victory.
The Wildcats (3-2) put on a dominant display, beating Gainesville Countryside Christian, 59-0, Friday at home. Tuesday afternoon the Wildcats knocked off Solid Rock Academy, 57-6.
According to head coach John Castelamare, running back Jarrett Harvey went over the 300 yard rushing mark again and quarterback Austin Carlson did a good job of controlling the offense.
Carlson called a good portion of the offensive plays, Castelamare said.
One of the impressive moments from Friday’s game for Castelamare was when his defense put together a scrappy goal line stand, keeping Countryside out of the end zone form the Wildcats 1.
Still, the fact his 6-man football team played two games in a three-day span is likely just as remarkable.
“That was tough,” Castelamare said. “We were fortunate to do well Tuesday. When you’re doing well, you’re winning, nobody got hurt, so we went right into the game pretty good.
“The kids look forward to it. They’re playing well, they have that (three win in a row), so they’re confident and we just have to play harder.”
Academy will travel to face Elfers Christian Friday. Kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m.
