The ever changing Internet world we delve into now is a change-of-a-dime entity, and there is no better proof of that than what happened in the past 30 minutes.
“They have asked me to waive’’ the no-trade clause, Boyle said.
Boyle did not want to discuss the specifics of when or how he was approached, or where they are asking him to move. The conversation was brief, but wanted to make sure the record was set straight.
This story will continue to develop as the day continues.
Here’s an indicator as to what the Lightning has in mind of what they fully intend to do with Dan Boyle. If you go to the Lightning homepage during the introduction of the new faces (and a couple of familiar ones), Boyle is not among those listed, which also includes Gary Roberts, Ryan Malone along with the likes of Vinny Lecavalier and Marty St. Louis. But no mention of Boyle.

I have to agree with just about everyone. getting rid of Boyle would be a huge mistake. it also would make the lightning once again a joke and at the bottom of the standings unless they get another quality defenseman. it would also make the owners look like an absolute and utter joke to the fans and probably everyone out the in the hockey world.

I noticed that Boyle was absent from the new intro as well but then realized that none of the d-men are listed. He’s still on the main Lightning page.
Ownership that treats players with this little respect is not a team I want to support. It’s not about Boyle specially, though I think he’s a HUGE asset, it’s the the contract back peddling I have a problem with.
Does the ownership not care at all about the fan base? I didn’t like the Richards trade but I understood it. This one makes NO sense.

The thing is Steve is it is all the “big” players - both Vinny’s are listed, Marty is listed, heck even Craig is listed - but no Boyle.
Muy favorite is the Owners to Unite us - yeah - that ain’t working too well right now is it? You want to unite us this isn’t how you do it - you don’t trade Boyle.

Only one third of the team is listed, mostly the new guys. I don’t read much into that. Pretty cool video.

Has anyone heard anything about Chris Gratton? I’ve checked the roster on the Lightning web site and he is not even listed.

Has everyone seen the new introduction on the Lightning website? “Players to excite us”, no mention of Dan Boyle. I think he is as good as gone.

What away to completely jack up everything that’s been done since draft day. I’d hate to say it but after the last forward they signed I started to lose a little bit of confidence in the ownership. Keep in mind that Lecavalier has not officially signed yet, If I were him i’d put the ownership in their place, and If Boyle is traded and I was Jay Feaster, i’d resign rather than be lumped together with this could-be classless ownership group. It’s not like they’ve given you any responsibility at this point.

Beginning to count how much money I will save not driving 4 hours one way for games.
I hope the end result of all this is justifiable.
I wonder if OK is the real deal or just a couple of kids trading aroung player cards.

This is why the fans should not be excited about the new ownership just yet. Remember, it’s business with them and they can come in and Rah Rah all they want to. But in reality, what have we got so far, two unproven defenseman, Kolzig and Vrbata. The only difference so far between now and last year is that we have two scoring lines instead of one. I believe Boyle is gone. Hopefully we can improve our defense in some other way.

Hang in there Danny - remember that the fans are behind you. JUST SAY NO!!!!

Sometimes I wonder about the comments here. “But in reality, what have we got so far, two unproven defenseman, Kolzig and Vrbata.”
Add: Ryan Malone, one of the top 3 FAs available this year. Stamkos was a given, of course. Artyukhin. Roberts (great addition). Lecavalier now has a long-term contract. This is what they have done (so far).
I think Boyle is a great guy, but im not going to tell you that I wont be a Lightning fan if he isnt here (not to mention that no ones what we would get in return, and that Boyle is probably not defensively responsible enough for what this team needs). Im a Bolt fan first, a player fan second. I believe OK is doing everything necessary to make this team a winner and give us depth for years to come.
