I joined John Sahly from the DeKalb (Ill.) Daily Chronicle for a video interview after practice at the SkyDome ... hmmm, I mean Rogers Centre.
We talked about USF’s season and the up-and-down ride that it was at times for Bulls fans.

I hope to do these type interviews myself on the blog next season, so feel free to provide a critique—good, bad and ugly.
I’ll check back later with some USF notes from today.

You asked for it, good bad and ugly. Here it is. I have heard you, on the radio I think twice, and then this video. You know your material and you do a good job of imparting the facts in an unbiased manner. It looks natural and effortless. You come across on radio fine. On video, you need to show more energy, and utilize the visual medium better through some body language - hand gestures, nodding, smiling, etc. Don’t just be a talking head. Watch the veteran ESPN guys; even a gesture with a pencil is better than hands in pockets. You aren’t talking to the interviewer, you’re talking to a TV audience that doesn’t have as good a grasp of USF as you do. With some work, you could be on radio or TV. Seriously. Good luck

Dan, appreciate the feedback…love your straightforward and direct approach…
Your analysis is spot on…I thought the same; never really cared to be on TV or doing video reports, but it’s more part of the job as a beat writer nowadays than it used to be…I’ll try to liven it up next time…
Hope you’re enjoying the game.
