Oh, hey, before we forget ...
It passed without much notice, but Wednesday was the 1,000th loss in the history of the Tampa Bay Rays franchise. It took them 1,683 games to get there. By comparison, it took the New York Mets 1,713 games to reach 1,000 losses, which, if I’m reading this right—and I’d like to think that I am—occurred on Aug. 2, 1972.
