A musical interlude

BOSTON—I’ve read more than a few sportswriters’ blogs that regularly incorporate song lyrics into the content. Now, I love music as much as the next guy, but I’ve never felt comfortable going that route.
Circumstances have changed that feeling, for one night anyway. As I sit here contemplating whether the Rays’ 11th consecutive loss will be finished in time for me to make my 6 a.m. flight to Kansas City, I can’t help but think of the words of the immortal Drive-By Truckers:
So I’ll meet you at the bottom if there really is one
They always told me when you hit it you’ll know it
But I’ve been falling so long it’s like gravity’s gone and I’m just floating
