In addition to suffering a loss Monday night to Chicago, the Storm suffered a few injuries to key players.
Starters Tim McGill and Kenyatta Jones each went down in the loss. Of the two injuries, Jones, a rookie offensive lineman, appears to be the most serious.
Jones sustained what was described by team officials as a calf injury during the first half of Monday’s game. Coach Tim Marcum said after the game that the injury appeared severe enough that Jones could miss some extended time.
McGill, a defensive tackle, sustained a leg injury later in the game and was having trouble putting weight on the leg, a team spokesperson said. Marcum described the injury as a muscle strain. It was not immediately known how severe the injury was.
Both players, along with defensive back Daryon Brutley, who left the game in the first half after suffering a concussion, were expected to be re-evaluated Tuesday.
The Storm return to the field Friday at home against Southern Division-leading New Orleans.
