The Storm got a bit of good news Tuesday when defensive lineman Tim McGill was able to practice after sustaining an injury during Monday night’s loss to Chicago.
McGill suffered what trainers deemed a right groin strain, but the injury doesn’t seem like it will keep him out for any period of time. McGill is expected to play Friday when the Storm (3-6) host Souther Division-leading New Orleans.
Things were not as good for defensive back Daryon Brutley and offensive lineman Kenyatta Jones. Neither of those two were able to practice Tuesday.
Brutley, who suffered a concussion, will be sidelined indefinitely as he undergoes further testing. Jones, meanwhile, is day-to-day with a right calf strain and his status for Friday’s game is questionable. Jones will be re-evaluated Wednesday.
In other Storm news, third-string quarterback Jon Beutjer is no longer with the team as the Colorado Crush claimed him off the Storm’s practice squad. Tampa Bay does not have another quarterback lined up to fill the role yet, but the team is expected to bring in another one.
Also, defensive back Khalid Naziruddin, released by the Storm two weeks ago, has caught on with the Orlando Predators.
