Berkeley Prep advances to 4A state volleyball championship

On a kill by sophomore middle hitter Addison Harden, Berkeley Prep wins the fourthh set, 25-21, and the match, 3-1, to advance to Thursday’s 4A state final. Berkeley Prep will face The winner Orlando Bishop Moore in the state championship Thursday at 8:05 p.m.

Bishop Moore defeated Jacksonville Bolles, 25-17, 25-20, 25-16.

Set 4: Berkeley Prep 25, Cardinal Gibbons 21

Dump over the top by Mackenzie Dagostino gives Berkeley 20-16 lead in 4th set. Buccaneers are five points away from advancing to 4A final.

Berkeley takes 16-11 on the serving of Jordan Burgess.

Berkeley has a run of its own to close deficit to 7-6 against Cardinal Gibbons.

Cardinal Gibbons takes 22-20 lead after scoring five unanswered points.

Kill by Berkeley soph Sidney Brown extends Berkeley’s lead to 20-17

Net violation on Berkeley. BP leads 17-15

Cardinal Gibbons can’t handle the serve-receive. Berkeley Prep takes 14-11 lead.

Set is tied at 11 after a double block by Berkeley Prep.

Cardinal Gibbons leads BP, 6-5.

Set 2: Berkeley 25, Cardinal Gibbons 8

Hitting error on Leigh Andrew gives BP the set point, 25-8. Buccaneers lead 4A state VB semis match, 2-0.

Kill by Sidney Brown gives BP a 21-6 lead. Cardinal Gibbons has no answer for hitting attack.

So far in this set, Jordan Burgess has an ace, a block, and three kills. BP leads Cardinal Gibbons 15-5.

After taking a 5-1 lead, Berkeley Prep allows a 6-2 run and now trails Cardinal Gibbons 7-6.
