Tower’s Builder Says It’s Still A Go

The developer of Trump Tower Tampa said it plans to resume construction in January and expects the building to be finished by summer 2009.

That may not be enough to satisfy The Donald.

Donald Trump, who licensed his name to the development group, said in an interview that he is unsure the developer, SimDag LLC, will finish the project and wants to take it over.

Any residential development in downtown is a good thing.  1) It will increase density which is always a good thing 2) It will give us a better skyline, 3) Bring some prestige to Tampa.  Sure there will be some vacant condos in the Trump Tower but they will eventually fill.  We have to look long term here. We will have approximately 400,000 people moving to Hillsborough in the next 20 years.  This is just another housing option besides ugly suburbs and sprawl.

Since they raised the lowest priced unit above 700g, they’ve had a few vacancies.
Perhaps they could move a few of the displaced residents from the Central City housing projects in, and let the taxpayers subsidize the rent.
