Growing up during WW II and the Cold War, I learned all about the cruel and devious tactics of despotic governments: arrest without warrent, torture, a police state. But America was different. We didn’t do those things. Well, now I guess we do do those things. And President Bush wants permission to make them legal. Is it any wonder that America’s reputation is eroding in the world?
I also object to your placement of the article. It deserved the front page, a reminder of what we American citizens are responsible for by our lack of objections.
